Zoe’s theatre training includes an MFA in Theatre for Youth and Community from Arizona State University and a BA in Theatre Performance at the University of Missouri. She holds a second bachelor’s degree, BS in Education from the University of Missouri.

Theories and Influences

Zoe has developed a use for theory as a theatre practitioner by using her practice to explore and answer questions within theory. Much of her inquiry is centered on queer, disability, and anti-racist theories and works. Augusto Boal and bell hooks are most influential to Zoe’s work. Taking Boal’s concept of

Zoe’s theatrical work serves as a rehearsal and reimagination of what society could be. The experience is unique to each collaborating group and audience. The realities of society can become more apparent through theoretical, creative exploration.

In contrast, bell hooks says,

In order to create social change, people must be able to imagine change based on where they are at now. Zoe’s theatrical work seeks to meet people where they are, at all ages and abilities. Her emphasis on a joyful process is balanced by creating a product that makes collaborators proud.
