Seedfolks – Director

Zoe A. Tyler was Director for the show Seedfolks, produced by her theatre For Youth By Youth Theatre Company. Author Paul Fleischman adapted his book into a play, keeping the main story of a young Vietnamese girl unexpectedly starting a community garden with her neighbors. Zoe set her tour of the show in different community gardens throughout the metro Phoenix valley forging mutually beneficial partnerships with nonprofits that manage community gardens, Keep Phx Beautiful and Urban Farms. These gardens are placed in areas of high need in Phoenix.

Zoe fundraised over $4,000 in arts grants to hire 15 local artists of all ages and diverse backgrounds. Technical and Actor Collaborators spanned three generations and came from four different continents. The team successfully brought a free theatrical show and art programs before/after the show to over 170 community members.

One of Zoe’s favorite memories from this production was surprising Stage Manager Ryan with a birthday cake to share with the Creative Team for her 21st birthday.
