Boy Meets Girl A Young Love Story – Director

Zoe A. Tyler directed Boy Meets Girl A Young Love Story as the debut show from her theatre For Youth By Youth Theatre Company. This one-act by Sam Wolfson the ups and downs of young romance through the eyes of two kindergarteners who speak like adults. Zoe’s designer concept and casting of trans youth actors queered the narrative.

The collaborative work in Boy Meets Girl reimagined what queer joy and gender expression for young people could look like, existence as resistance. This free show had an audience of 51 attendees in a venue with 60 seats. The audience included folks invited through one·n·ten, a Phoenix nonprofit that supports queer youth up to 24 years old.

One of Zoe’s favorite memories from this production was staging the hilarious dream dance sequence.
